As mentioned in previous issues we have been looking for some time to change the way in which we communicate with our readers and pass on Visual and Applied Arts related information. The result is this, a new section of Arts Council Wales' website, specifically dedicated to our artforms and we hope you enjoy browsing through it.

The decision was taken to make these changes for a number of reasons. As well as the positive environmental benefits of ceasing the production of the printed version, it was felt that, in order to remain useful and relevant, the publication would need to adapt to changing times and we have become increasingly aware that information was often out of date by the time Crefft/Artists Notes was printed and distributed. This new online service will not only allow us to keep in touch with our readership and keep pace with the ever changing ways in which information is exchanged and shared, but will also allow us to update the content on a more regular basis, keeping you informed of opportunities, events, listings and news, as and when they happen.

We have also taken this opportunity to include much more than was possible in print. If you begin your navigation from the Artform tab, choosing either 'Visual Arts' or 'Applied Arts and Craft', you will see all the usual sections including news features and exhibition listings.

There are also new sections containing resources and advice for artists and crafts people, as well as clear and precise artform specific information regarding our strategies, plans and funding possibilities with case studies that we hope will inspire new creativity.

We are sure you will like what we've achieved so far, but we also hope that you will bear with us during this transitional period. We plan, in the months ahead, to develop each section and would very much welcome your comments and suggestions. We would also like to encourage you all to add or update your details to our arts database as we can only make this resource work effectively with your help. You can access the database from the home page of our website.
