The Academi is the Welsh National Literature Promotion Agency and Society for Authors. The Academi runs events, courses, competitions, including the Cardiff International Poetry Competition, with the support of Cardiff Council and offering a First Prize of £5000, conferences, tours by authors, lectures, international exchanges, events for schools, readings, literary performances and festivals. Academi is also responsible for the National Poet of Wales project and the Welsh Academy Encyclopaedia of Wales.
Academi has three funding schemes which can offer support towards literature workshops, lectures, readings, conferences, stomps, poems & pints nights and indeed any event concerned with the practice, promotion, appreciation or development of creative writing:

2 schemes set up to give artists time, space and money to practically develop a quality concept without the pressure of realising a finished piece of work.
Scheme 1 - Non studio based projects. Scheme 2 - Residency within the Toynbee Studios for a limited period of time
2007/08 Scheme 1 awarded 7 bursaries of £3k each. Scheme 2 offered 3 bursaries of £5K each.
The British Council is not a funding body in the usual sense and there is no application form except for the Grants to Artists Scheme. In the majority of cases they approach the artists who they think may be interested in working with them rather than vice versa.
Grants to Artists scheme is available for artists resident in the UK to help you with the costs of transporting work to an exhibition in a gallery abroad.
The Crafts Council is the national development agency for contemporary crafts in the UK
Crafts Council Development Award - This award scheme is for makers who are about to set up their business, or who are within three years of doing so, however only individuals living in England are eligible to apply.
Next Move – open to applicants across the whole of the UK, Next Move is an inovative setting-up scheme providing new designer-makers with a placement in a host college with access to workspace, equipment, grants and training and promotional opportunities. Placements in Wales are included within the scheme from 2008 onwards.

The SOURCE Fund offers grants of up to £30,000 to community groups and not for profit organisations who wish to consider and implement sustainable energy projects in their buildings - from energy efficiency through to micro-generation.
